Name: Gabriel Alterman
Position: Senior partner and founder
Experience: Over 20 years

Gabriel Alterman, the firm's senior partner and founder has more than 20 years experience of litigation and property law.

He has unrivalled expertise in residential landlord and tenant law, including leasehold enfranchisement, service charge recovery and possession claims.

Gabriel works closely with landlords and managing agents that between them own or control many thousands of properties, helping them to manage their portfolios by collecting arrears of rent and service charges and dealing with many lease extensions and sales of freehold titles. He has a great insight into the needs of freeholders and managing agents.

He has handled cases in the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal, County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal, having acted for both tenants and landlords.

Altermans is a reflection of Gabriel's desire to create a niche practice that provides a first class service to clients who require expert advice in a few areas - not general advice in many.

Name: Sarah Mclaren
Position: Legal Assistant

Sarah graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2006. She practiced as a solicitor in New Zealand for two years before coming to Altermans in July 2009 and has been working in the Undefended Recovery Team since then.

Name: Rebecca Selby
Position: Legal Assistant

Rebecca graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Social Sciences majoring in Political Science from Waikato University, New Zealand in 2004.

Rebecca joined Altermans in February 2006 and since then has been working on undefended and defended Landlord and Tenant Litigation. Rebecca handles defended arrears cases and cases involving other breaches of covenant. Rebecca runs cases in the County Court, the High Court and in the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal

Name: Peta Bennett
Position: Legal Assistant

Peta graduated from a combined Bachelor of Law/Bachelor of Social Science degree from the University of Western Sydney in 2004 and was admitted as a Solicitor to the Supreme Court of New South Wales (Aus) in October 2005. Peta has experience in Litigation, Property Law and Conveyancing both in the UK and in Australia.

Name: Chantal Thomas
Position: Solicitor

Chantal qualified as a solicitor in 1990, and since then has specialised in a full range of commercial and residential property transactions for landlords, tenants, sellers, buyers and financial institutions, working for many years in West End and City firms including Barlow Lyde and Gilbert.
